Hi, Everyone. I’m Rion Paige. I’m 12 and live in Jacksonville, Florida. I’m in love with country music. I don’t know how I would live without it! On July 13, I won the North Florida Texaco Country Showdown competition at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park and will represent WQHL The Big 98 radio station in Live Oak at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park Sept. 8 in the state competition! I can’t wait for State!
I have had amazing chances to perform for Linda Davis and Adam Gregory. I grew up with my mom singing in the car, and I soon began singing along when I was only 3. It was then that at 5 p.m. every evening all of the TVs were turned off, and we would crank up the country radio. That’s when I started to find some of my favorite artists such as The Judds, Martina McBride and later Carrie Underwood.
I have arthrogryposis in my arms and glaucoma in my right eye, but it doesn’t stop me. I consider the stage my second home because that’s when I feel powerful and capable of anything. I love when I sing and see peoples’ mouth drop! They say ”How old are you?” and they can’t fathom that I am only 12! I was invited to sing at the Suwannee River Jam in Live Oak, FL in 2012 which was an amazing experience. I got to meet many big names in country music such as Eric Paslay, Craig Morgan and Josh Turner! Also, at the Suwannee River Jam I opened for Steve Holy and Justin Moore! And that was on my 12th birthday! What a wonderful birthday I had!
I would love for you to come hear me sing at the Florida Texaco Country Showdown at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park Sept. 8 in Live Oak, Fla! See you there or in Nashville real soon!
